PRIMUS BUSINESS SERVICES ROLLS OUT VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY DESIGNED TO HELP SMALL AND MID-SIZED BUSINESSES REDUCE COSTS AND INCREASE EFFICIENCY |
|
Toronto, Canada – The benefits of server virtualization, once thought to be only available to large Enterprise businesses, is now available to small and mid-sized businesses (SMB). Primus Business Services is introducing Virtual Managed Machines (VMM), a software technology designed to minimize hardware, staffing and operating costs by consolidating and better managing server infrastructure. Primus is one of Canada’s first national full-service communications providers to offer SMB companies a hosted virtual server environment as a monthly service – providing them with a more affordable and reliable virtual solution. “Major corporations have recognized for some time the advantages of using virtualization technology to support multiple machines on a single physical server and share resources of a single computer across multiple environments,” said Jeff Lorenz, VP at Primus Telecommunications Canada. “Now, smaller businesses can reap the financial and operational benefits of virtualization through a monthly service – reducing IT costs, while increasing efficiency, utilization and flexibility of existing assets.” In a traditional server environment, every server runs an application on a specific operating system. With Primus’ VMM, numerous virtual machines run on a single physical server – sharing the resources of that single computer across multiple environments. Primus offers flexible VMM plans that can support anything from a single server environment to clients looking to virtualize their entire server farm. At a time when companies are rationalizing IT spend and trying to do more with less, Primus’ VMM minimizes capital investment, increases hardware utilization and performance and also reduces dependency on hardware infrastructure. Primus’ VMM gives SMB the control over their infrastructure and costs through scalability and flexibility.
